Services are held at 10:00 am in the Tabernacle unless otherwise noted.
July 10: Unitarian Society of Northampton and Florence A
liberal congregation in the Unitarian Universalist tradition, part of
Northampton since 1825 and Florence since 1863. We have a vibrant
tradition of holding lay-led services through the summer months. We
are a congregation that affirms and welcomes people of all races,
genders, and sexual orientations. In
this unprogrammed Quaker meeting, attendees are invited to worship in
silence. People may speak as the Spirit moves them. Northampton
Friends Meeting welcomes all members of the community and celebrates
the richness of human diversity. Attendees will be invited to share refreshments and write letters in support of social causes after the close of meeting.
Members
of Laurel Park's ongoing meditation group will lead a meditation
drawn from the Vipassana tradition and Zen Buddhism as taught by
Thich Nhat Hanh. There will be sitting meditation, walking
meditation, and a guided loving kindness meditation. Open to all,
experienced or new to practicing. July 31: Community Sharing of the Spirit Laurel
Park's annual "spiritual pot luck." All are welcome to
bring offerings of words and/or music from any spiritual tradition,
that have inspired, uplifted or challenged you. Come
join in the singing, or simply listen. A brief introduction to this
American participatory singing tradition will be offered at the
beginning of the sing. Loaner books will be available. Honor the earth and community with Deirdre Arthen of EarthSpirit, a non-profit organization that holds events and gatherings drawn from the indigenous traditions of Northern Europe.
August 21: Native American Prayer Service L.
Jan “Sparky Shooting Star” Hunt is a founding board member of the
Church of the Blue Star, a Native American based way of life that
honors all the races and faces of people, and all the names of
God. Reverend
Andrea Ayvazian
will
lead the service to conclude our season of Sunday Services. We also welcome the congregation of First Churches to join us at this service.
